Call for Papers: Special issue of Environment and Urbanization

Colleagues are welcome to submit EoIs for this special issue edited by UI Associate Melanie Lombard and Martina Manara (UCL) on community-led responses to urban/ peri-urban land conflict, to be published October 2026.

Workshop on Urban crisis in South African and Colombian cities

Urban Institute Associate Melanie Lombard recently ran a final project workshop in Cape Town, collaborating with South African and Colombian scholars and activists as part of her British Academy Urban crisis project.

PLURALIZE symbols — 义 (Yi) means “appropriateness” or “righteousness,” referring to what is morally right and fitting. It conveys the virtue of doing what is just, acting with integrity, and upholding moral principles, regardless of personal gain.
