General enquiries
The Student Services Information Desk (SSiD) is a drop-in student information service that can answer the majority of your questions and provide a range of University documents.
Financial support
Our Fees and Funding team provide help with applying for scholarships and financial support.
Independent advice
The , run by our Students’ Union, specialises in confidential advice on money and housing as well academic matters.
Safeguarding and welfare
Our Safeguarding and Welfare team provides practical support and guidance for students experiencing significant difficulties such as bereavement, serious ill health, bullying or sexual violence, harassment or abuse.

Student Mental Health, Counselling & Therapies Service
Our service provides confidential counselling and therapy as well as mental health support, specialist workshops, group sessions and self-help resources
Support and counselling
We offer dedicated mental health support, counselling and psychological therapies. You can register for support with our Student Mental Health, Counselling and Therapies Service.
Our team will help you navigate your support options and agree on a tailored plan of psychological support. This includes assessing your suitability for counselling, therapy or other appropriate support services
If you have any concerns in relation to a student’s mental health or wellbeing, is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

We're using the to help us adopt an approach to mental health and wellbeing that’s for everyone - including support for those with pre-existing or emerging mental health conditions.
University Health Service
We're one of the few universities which has a dedicated health service just for students. All students and their dependants can register with our University Health Service for NHS care.
Wellbeing service
Our Student Wellbeing Service offers one-to-one support. Students can meet with a Wellbeing Advisor in their faculty in person or online through Google Meet. The service offers our events, groups and training.
Disability and dyslexia support
If you have a long-term condition or impairment that could affect your ability to study, we can provide specialist support throughout your time at university through our Disability and Dyslexia Support Service.
International student support
We support international students with visa and immigration information and also organise a range of social activities to help students get to know the city of Sheffield and each other.
Our Global Campus programme includes online events and activities to help you settle into life in Sheffield and make new friends.
Religion and belief
Our chaplains and religious advisers offer care and support to people of all faiths and none. We work with communities and we offer opportunities for worship, prayer and spiritual exploration.
Academic and study support
Academic tutors
As a registered student, you’ll be assigned a member of staff in your academic department who can provide academic support.
Academic skills support
Our 301: Academic Skills Centre offers a range of services and activities to support your academic and study skills development.
Peer mentoring
As a first-year student, you’ll be offered a peer mentor to help you with your transition into university life.
Library
Our University Library provides a range of services and support, including access to extensive information resources, a wide range of flexible learning environments, and the support you need to achieve your learning goals, enhance your research or develop new skills.

Our study spaces, computers and IT support are all there to offer you the best possible learning experience.

Accommodation
If you’re in University accommodation, you’ll be visited regularly by Residence Mentors who can provide support and guidance.

We’re proud to be an inclusive, tolerant and diverse community. To ensure all our students have the opportunities to succeed, we offer additional support to underrepresented groups during their student journey and we have a dedicated Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team.
We have a number of programmes for students, including our race equality programme for all new students, and dedicated groups that work to improve your experience.
Childcare
The Students' Union runs a for children aged six months to five years old. It's Ofsted registered (300762) and offers quality teaching and learning experiences for your child. Fees are subsidised according to family income. There’s also play schemes during the school holidays for children aged 4 to 12 years.
International scholarships
We offer a generous package of financial support for international students, including undergraduate and postgraduate taught scholarships worth £10,000 towards the annual tuition fee. Applications are open for existing offer holders.
